“The best fit is with someone, who has the courage to be curious about a world that’s not their own.”

Therapy, Psychiatry, Ketamine Preparation and Integration Support, Coaching
Vera E. Brown, PMHNP-BC
In 2010, I completed a Master of Arts degree in Mental Health Counseling and Behavioral Medicine from Boston University School of Medicine. Between 2010-2013, I provided counseling and case management to adults in outpatient and residential settings. Around 2013 I had a desire to expand the services I offered. This desire motivated me to apply to a three-year Direct-Entry in Nursing (DEN) program at MGH Institute of Health Professions in Boston. In 2014, I started my journey to becoming a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner and since 2017, I’ve been providing therapy and medication management to adults. Around 2018-2019, during group supervision with several of my colleagues at Boston Medical Center, I was introduced to psychedelic treatment. My understanding of this form of treatment was enhanced through self-study and two trainings in Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy, with SAGE Institute (2021) and Polaris (2022). The aspect of this modality that makes me the most excited is the goal of re-connecting people with their internal healer. While I don’t prescribe or facilitate ketamine sessions, I really enjoy offering assistance to those who have received Ketamine and desire support integrating their experience. Other current interests include offering therapy and medication management services to adults living with anxiety, depression, and the effects that come with experiencing trauma. I approach care with a collaborative, holistic, trauma informed approach, using psychodynamic and motivational interviewing informed strategies.
About Me 2.0
I believe, change is sustained when the motivation comes from within. Change is enduring when you realize that you already have the answers to the questions you have. My role is to guide you in the process of remembering that you do. I am not a fan of giving advice or telling someone what to do. Using the experience gleaned from my clinical training, I will offer suggestions and recommendations, but the decision on a particular course of action is yours.
